Brand name.
Pets at Home.
What is it?
Pet supplies retailer.
What we can learn.
Imagine you’re in ASDA. You leave your basket by the checkout.
Off you wander for milk. Grab the milk. Back to your basket. Pop the milk in.
Off you wander for eggs. Grab the eggs. Back to your basket. Pop the eggs in.
Off you wander for bread. Grab the bread. Back to your basket. Pop the bread in.
Daft right? Well that’s how lots of ecommerce websites work.
Not the Pets at Home website, though.
The ecommerce equivalent of my made-up ASDA scenario is this:
1. See the product I want on a category page. Click the product (that’s click 1).
2. Take a closer look on the product page. Click to add product to basket (that’s click 2).
3. Click to go back to the category page (that’s click 3).
Here’s the Pets at Home way:
1. See the product I want on a category page. Click the ‘Add to basket’ button (that’s click 1).
If you want to add another to your basket that can be done from the same category page (click 2).
The shopping basket icon (often found top right) automatically updates as you add items to your basket. Neat!
Upside.
Less zigging and zagging to do your shopping.
Downside.
I can’t see any.
